Your wedding day is naturally one of the best days of your life. It consists of all of the little (and big) things that represent you as a couple, a day for all of your friends and loved ones to enjoy and one that you’ll remember forever. There are so many aspects that you need to focus on in order to bring it all together though, which is why this can be such a stressful period for brides too.
Hiring a wedding planner can make this joyful time a little easier on your nerves.
Hello, I’m Georgia, a wedding and branding photographer and I want to share my experience and knowledge to help you lovely couples in all of your wedding planning and preparations. I am sure that my tips, inspiration and advice will help relieve some of the stress and help answer some of those questions you may have. Many people have no idea what to expect when it comes to the booking processes, prices and payment plans, insurances, etc. and to be honest, a lot of people just don’t know where to start and who’s advice to listen to – family and friends are happy to share advice but often it is what THEY like/dislike and think you should do, and it often contradicts what another person has told you. I cover all things weddings and not only the photography side of things and I include interviews with other suppliers so that you get to learn from their expertise as well.
So with that said why not subscribe to the blog and receive my free wedding checklist bundle (this has some timelines to help get you started.) If you are looking for a photographer you can find all of my prices on my website and there are contact forms if you wish to enquire about my availability. Also, feel free to connect with me on Instagram.
Back to the topic at hand……
Here are a few reasons why you should consider hiring a professional planner:
1) You’ve never done this before
Chances are you and your fiancé haven’t planned a wedding before. Even if you have, there are always new and exciting trends, venues, and vendors popping up so it’s never the same. Some brides feel that they can plan their own weddings because they’ve helped a sister or best friend plan theirs but planning your own wedding is completely different, there are more emotions involved and you're usually forking out a lot of your own money too! A professional wedding planner is the best person to guide you through this intricate process. They'll know the best suppliers to work with to help your dream wedding become a reality and also take the stress of all the nitty, gritty emails back and forth off your hands.
2)The stress is getting to you
Planning a wedding is harder than it looks and if you’re already losing sleep over your massive to-do list, hiring a wedding planner can really make the entire process much more manageable and enjoyable for you. You should be excited about your big day, not stressed and tearful! The wedding planner will do all the boring bits and just include you in the exciting choices (and menu tastings!) that you can make to help your day be unique to you as a couple.
3)You’re unsure about the costs involved
If you’re in the process of putting a budget together and would like some more guidance on what to expect based on your unique preferences, a wedding planner can be your guide. A professional wedding planner can offer you great insights into industry norms and trends and what you can expect. They can also really help you stick to your budget. Couples often think that hiring a wedding planner is way out of their budget, but it can often have the opposite effect as the planner will help you keep within your budget and helps prevent those unexpected costs (that naturally arrive when you're planning a huge event for the first time!) from being an issue.
We hope that you're finding this post insightful so far! For more advice on budgeting and planning your wedding, check out our post on the 'Average Wedding Cost' after you're done here!
4)You need a push start
A wedding planner can help you get the ball rolling so that you can start making all the important decisions. They’ll help bring your vision together and put you in touch with vendors and suppliers who can help bring your day to life. I know from personal experience that choosing suppliers that have been recommended by someone who works regularly with them really does help your day run much more smoothly!
5)You’re under the impression that your photographer will help with the planning
Yes, a photographer can give you some guidance on the timing (check out our blog on scheduling your photos here) but they definitely won’t be assisting you with any other coordination or wedding planning. Your photographer will be able to tell you what time to start getting ready and how much time they’ll need for family shots but they won’t be able to assist with the clearing of the reception hall for décor shots, bustling your dress before you walk down the aisle or making sure that the men’s buttonholes are pinned on properly (although I do often help out with this one!), this is what your wedding planner is for. A wedding planner is there to make sure that your photographer can do his or her job on the day.
Hopefully, this has given you plenty of food for thought and has been helpful to you. If you want some free example wedding day timelines then download my wedding planning bundle, and why not subscribe to the blog and my YouTube channel to get much more wedding tips and inspiration.
